So much for tropical storm Odile rearranging the Sutherland Wash along the GLF Riparian Preserve this week. I tossed two bags of native wildflower and grass seeds near the northeast corner Tuesday morning with hopes that the big rain might set them in place, or perhaps carry them away downstream. Either way would've been fine by me. Well, I guess they'll be staying put if they take root at all, since the storm shunned this small part of the world. But who knows what'll happen? I bet some will hitch a ride in the digestive tracks of a white crowned sparrow or two. The ways of seed germination are magical (and scientific) mysteries to me anyway.
