I'm pretty sure this grama grass is Rothrock Grama. We've never seen it as abundant as this year after tropical storm Norbert rolled through. This would be typical of Rothrock grama, being abundant after high rain, then virtually disappearing during times of drought. The other thing that really makes this grass stand out are its beautiful anthers, which are red at first (see above), before fading to light pink or white.
